“We’ve trusted the Daniels family for generations.”
The Santa Rosa area is rich in history, and many families trace their heritage back for a century or more. During that time, we have been honored with the trust of those families, assisting them in their time of sorrow for over 125 years.
In the early days of funeral service, most funeral directors came from the furniture or carpentry business. So did Mr. M.M. Moke. Around 1875, he operated a business on lower Fourth Street in Santa Rosa, where he sold furniture and advertised that he made “coffins.” At that time, funeral services were held in private homes, and sometimes in churches.
Eventually, Mr. Moke established the first full-service funeral home in the area, took in a partner, and called the business the Moke and Stanley Funeral Parlor. The two men established a reputation for maintaining the highest standard of honesty and integrity in serving families who had experienced a loss, and that dedication allowed them to expand over the years. They also built a reputation as pioneers in the profession, bringing the first gas-powered hearse to the area, and offering preparation services that had customarily been performed by the family of the deceased.
Wesley W. Daniels came into the business in 1937 and gradually bought out the other partners in the funeral home. Today, Daniels Chapel of the Roses is the oldest family-owned funeral home in Santa Rosa, offering three generations of experienced, personal service performed to the highest ethical and professional standards.
